Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Round 2:
Dusty Rhodes Tag team classic was a great series last year. So far, it has provided beautiful tag team matches in its second session. This episode had some cool stipulations. The matches were performed masterfully by the wrestlers.
Roderick Strong-Austin Aries vs TM61:
The crowd loudly cheered for Aries and Strong. This stipulated match was modified to be a singles' match considering that Aries was injured. The implication of the match was winner taking his team ahead to the next round. Even being injured, Austin used his graceful mic skills to entertain the crowd. It was a great choice from WWE.
Shane Thorne vs Roderick Strong:
This match was fast-paced and a power-packed performance from both performers. Roddy is indeed the “Messiah of back-breakers”. He has so many strong moves in his pocket that the match never seemed out of hands of Roddy. Roderick had to perform all those moves perfectly, which was very difficult. But Shane took the falls with ease, hence applauds to him too. This was a nice way to build up the match and establish Roddy's character in the NXT brand. The segment of the match with continuous pins from both side and the last move was a fitting end to the match. This was an awesome match.
DIY vs The Revival:
After Austin coming out of the back with a broken eye, the Revival took a page from his book. Scott Dawson coming out with a broken meniscus created an expected boo-chant from the crowd. The Revival willingly forfeiting their chance to play in Dusty Rhodes classic had to happen as they are already the champs and any teams they would have been pushing would have to be a contender for the belt. It was executed as best as it could have been by Dawson. So "the top guys are out".
Rich Swann-Noway Hose vs Authors of Pain:
This match was full of awe-inspiring high flying moves, kicks and slaps from Rich Swann, and power dominance of Authors of Pain. Noway Hose didn't find much scope to show his skills but the TKO by him was picture-perfect.
TJP-Kota Ibushi vs SAnity:
The SAnity have surely got a great entrance. The match was beautifully performed by the wrestlers.
The match missed TJP's flair, but it was overcome by Kota Ibushi's performance. His high-flying moves and kicks were perfect. SAnity had shown similar power dominance as the Authors of Pain. SAnity has been shown as an indomitable stable. They have an architect as their leader. The killer lady, Nicki Cross has held her character beautifully till now. I was a bit disappointed as I expected to see more from her in this match. Eric is famous for his work inside and outside the ring. So, one would expect a lot from this stable. Hoping that the stable lasts till they join the main WWE roster, they have got a formidable band for top championship belts. It all depends on the united chemistry of the stable. Eric Young will have a great role in guiding them.
